Dr. Scott Loepp

Scott Loepp

Dr. Scott Loepp received his doctoral degree in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Pennsylvania in 1984. Prior to entering veterinary school he had earned his BA in chemistry and anthropology at Duke University. In 1984 Dr. Loepp joined the Soderholm Veterinary Hospital. Ten years later he purchased the practice, renaming it Frontier Veterinary Hospital. Dr. Loepp has a special interest in soft tissue surgery, challenging skin problems and geriatric internal medicine.

Dr. Loepp’s commitment to animal care and welfare is also evidenced by his active participation in the veterinary community.  He is currently the President of the OVMA (Oregon Veterinary Medical Association), and has served as chairman of the Board of Directors for Dove Lewis Emergency Animal Hospital in Portland, and a 3-year term as the President of the Portland Veterinary Medical Association.

An avid outdoorsman, Dr. Loepp’s active lifestyle is reflected in the family dogs, Mike, a Brittany Spaniel, and Gracie, a German Short Haired Pointer. Scott and wife Joan live in Hillsboro with son Eric and daughters Lauren and Sarah.

Dr. Liz Hardesty

Dr. Liz Hardesty earned her doctoral degree from Oregon State University in 2003, after receiving a B.S. in biology at Oregon State University. Frontier Veterinary Hospital was fortunate to acquire Dr. Hardesty’s skills and passion for medicine directly from veterinary school. Dr. Hardesty’s father, also a small animal veterinarian, first instilled in Liz her love of the profession and science.

Dr. Hardesty brings to the practice her special interest in ophthalmology (eyes), pediatric and geriatric care, soft tissue surgery, and dentistry and oral surgery. She is also a strong advocate for preventative medicine.

Dr. Hardesty’s love and care for animals is seen in her own pets. Her newest addition, Nigel, joins Emma (both Cairn Terrier) and Keva and Dexter, both domestic shorthair cats.

In her spare time, Liz enjoys gardening and horseback riding with her husband Rocky.

Dr. Jill Palmer

Jill Palmer

Dr. Jill Palmer, originally from New York, entered veterinary medicine by way of her anthropology degree from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, and her doctorate from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine.

The human animal bond plays a significant role in Dr. Palmer’s approach to medicine. Her spirit and sensitivity to the importance of that bond shows in her interactions with both clients and patients and allows her to reinforce that relationship. Love and concern for animal welfare has been a driving force in Jill’s practice.

Dr. Palmer has special interests in internal medicine, dermatology and preventative medicine, with a focus on the importance of lifelong preventative care.

Jill shares her home and love of the outdoors with her husband Steve, young daughter Sarah, and two dogs: Fenway, a German Shorthair Pointer, and Annie, a Border Collie mix.

Dr. Lisa Yung

Dr. Yung

Dr. Lisa Yung, DVM, received her doctoral degree in Veterinary Medicine from North Carolina State University in 2005. After earning her Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Dr. Yung chose to pursue veterinary medicine because she loves to be a part of the human-animal bond.

A southern girl at heart, Lisa grew up in Mississippi before moving to North Carolina to attend NCSU.  After 12 years there, she left the South to take advantage of the large variety of outdoor activities available in the Northwest. She joined Frontier Veterinary Hospital in early 2007, and immediately became a valuable member of the team.

Medically speaking, Dr. Yung's passions include internal medicine, preventative and geriatric care, and soft tissue surgery. She enjoys the challenges that difficult medical and surgical cases can present, and works diligently with her patient's families during the entire diagnostic and treatment process. Lisa is also a Veterinary Acupuncturist, and offers acupuncture as an alternative treatment for a variety of ailments, with a specific focus on pain management.

In her spare time, Dr. Yung and her husband Matt generally spend weekends hiking with their dogs (Hank, a happy Terrier mix and Wu-B, an American Eskimo). Lisa and Matt also enjoy international traveling, backcountry camping, snow skiing, reading, and eating – they both love sampling new cultural cuisines. Quite the adventurer, Lisa counts the three months she backpacked through Southeast Asia as one of her all-time favorite experiences – particularly the time she spent in Cambodia and Vietnam.

Dr. Yung also has three domestic short-haired cats at home, Carl, Palmer and Uno.

Dr. Bethany Groves

Dr. Groves

Dr. Bethany Groves received her doctoral degree from Cornell University, after completing her Bachelor’s Degree in Microbiology at Washington State University. At the age of five, she decided she wanted to become a veterinarian and, as a teenager, began working at local pet clinics and volunteering at the Oregon Zoo. While working toward her veterinary degree, Dr. Groves provided medical care for injured wildlife at Cornell University’s wildlife hospital and spent several months working alongside veterinary staff at the Bronx Zoo and Disney Animal Kingdom. She also spent a summer in South Africa helping to rehabilitate injured and oiled penguins.

Dr. Groves enjoys many areas of veterinary medicine, including internal medicine and preventative medicine.  In addition to treating dogs and cats, she carries a strong passion for working with exotic animals, and provides veterinary care for ferrets, reptiles, rabbits, guinea pigs, and pocket pets here at Frontier.

Thrilled to be back in the Pacific Northwest, Bethany enjoys camping, fly-fishing, learning to snowboard, and attending Cougar football games with her husband, Adam.  She also enjoys playing with her furry family members -- Calvin and Suzie, two ferrets who love stealing socks, lounging in hammocks, and hoarding anything that will fit under the couch; and OJ, a feisty orange cat who previously fell out of a 9-story window prior to being rescued, and now enjoys playing with ferrets and biting ankles.

Dr. Yvonne Wikander

Dr. WikanderDr. Yvonne Wikander received her doctoral degree in 1989 after attending Oregon State University and Washington State University for Veterinary Medicine.  Prior to veterinary school, she attended Oregon State University for her undergraduate degrees, where she graduated in 1985 with a BS in Zoology and a BA in General Science with a Minor in Spanish.  Dr. Wikander’s decision to become a veterinarian was an easy one, in her words “medicine, animals and people… there’s no better mix to be had!”

Dr. Wikander has had broad experiene as a veterinarian- she has worked as a solo practitioner, an emergency clinician, a relief veterinarian, and as an associate veterinarian at a small animal practice.  Prior to joining our team, she was the owner and sole practitioner at the Cornell Road Veterinary Hospital. She purchased the practice in 1998 (then called the Pampered Pet Clinic) and worked there until consolodating her practice with Frontier in June 2010.

Dr. Wikander brings to our practice her experience in performing laser surgery, and we look forward to providing this exciting technology to our clients.  She also brings a wide range of special interests, including fish and avian medicine, veterinary forensics, dentistry, preventative and geriatric medicine.

A native Oregonian, Yvonne spends her free time enjoying the great outdoors with her family, experiencing all the beautiful Northwest has to offer.
