Meet Shelby
Meet Shelby, our Lead Hospital Attendant. Shelby is our longest tenured employee and has worked at Frontier for 22 years, since February 1988, before we were even called Frontier!
Hi Shelby! So, do you go by Shelby or do you have any nicknames? I go by Shelby or more commonly Shelbs or Shel. As you may know, we often call each other by our initials at Frontier, so that makes me SP.
In your words, what is your job at Frontier? I am the Lead Hospital Attendant which means I am responsible for the cleanliness and presentation of the entire hospital. So I spend most of my time cleaning, cleaning, cleaning... did I mention cleaning? I also am in charge of taking care of all of our boarding pets- cleaning kennels, feeding, administering medication, and the fun part- giving them their TLC playtime! I also assist our CVTs and Technici an Assistants with patients' medical treatments when needed.
Why did you decide to work at Frontier? I didn't- I started working here when it was still Soderholm Veterinary Hospital! But seriously, I love it here- obviously, since I've been here for over 22 years.
Do you have any pets? I have 2 dogs, a cat and a lizard. Coco is a 4-year-old German Shorthair Pointer, which is the most popular Frontier pet- Dr. Loepp and Dr. Palmer also have GSPs! I also have an 8-year-old Chinese Crested named Sophie, you may have seen this breed in movies or dog shows. Phoenix is my cat, he is a 2-year-old Maine Coon. I also have a Bearded Dragon named Spike.
Tell us a little known fact about you! I used to ride and show horses competitively for many years. I have a special love for Hunter/Jumpers. I currently have miniature horses, which I have also shown. But now they are now more family pets than show horses. I have six of them- their names are Romeo, Teya, Arnie, Dijon, Mucho, and Monte.
Thanks Shelby! While most of Shelby's work around Frontier goes on behind the scenes, she is truly the heart and soul of Frontier. We are so thankful to have had Shelby on our team for so many years, and look forward to having her for many more to come.
